Studied Civil Engineering and specialized in Structural engineering in Durban South Africa “obtaining a bursary to study from Durban City Engineers Department” and cut his teeth in the bridge design section and moved into the section specializing in the remedials of the City bridges and infrastructure. Michael has a broad background in waste water, hydraulics, water and traffic engineering.
His business experience has been gained through part ownership of a large import/ wholesale & retail company (4Yrs), a start up director of a building and development company (3 yrs), then starting and owning Structural Maintenance Special Works (5 years) “a specialist contracting company” which was sold to move to Australia. Arriving in Brisbane Michael started the Aerify Group in Brisbane with the first contract at UQ and was a director which then sold to Transpacific. To assist Michael in running a business bookkeeping & accounting and later a project management course were undertaken. Michael is also an accomplished toastmaster.
Michael has sport interests in big wave surfing, golf, cycling on and off road, jet skiing, paddle boarding, spear fishing, horse riding and 4×4 adventure. Michael has a wonderful wife and two children. Past sports have been 250 cc national enduro racing, underwater hockey, canoeist and scuba diving instructor.
Michael has memberships with ACRA “Australian Concrete Repair Association” the concrete institute and has been a past member of the Qld Asbestos association. Keeping up with new developments and technology is through industry paper presentations and attendance at the world of concrete in the USA every second year.
